Testimonials

A former HiTOPS patient:

I write this note with warmest thanks and sincere gratitude for all you have done for me. I am a former patient (age 24) who still calls from time to time to get informed, or be calmed down, as the case may be. You have been kind enough to provide me with soothing knowledge and infinite patience, and have taken the time to really listen to me; qualities the everyday physical seems to be lacking. Please know that both of you have often been solely responsible for helping me through what has been an extremely difficult time. There is so much scary and simply false information out there, that I don’t know what I would do without voices of reason to set me straight. I admire and very much appreciate what you do. The world would be a better place with more people like you. Thank you.

Former HiTOPS Teen Council members:

As a Teen Council member I have been given the opportunity to go to different schools, juvenile detention centers and homeless shelters. At each place, we educate people of many ages and diverse backgrounds on many health related topics—including some challenging subjects such as HIV/AIDS and homophobia. As a Teen Council member, others seek my advice, and they trust my judgement. I value my role as a leader in the lives of others and I always practice what I preach, with the assurance that I am making a difference—I will always remain grateful to HiTOPS for these experiences.

HiTOPS had a major impact on my life. I learned how to be a good listener, not just a source of factual information. It was and still remains important to me to continue the work I began with HiTOPS over a decade ago. Now, fourteen years after I was a Teen Council member, I’m a philosophy professor at Princeton and I’m looking forward to working with HiTOPS again!
